Write the functions of the following in the digestive process:
(i) Bile
(ii) Bicarbonate secreted by the duodenum
(iii) Pancreatic amylase.
(i) Bile: It is helpful in emulsification of fats. Breaking down of large fat droplets into smaller fat globules occurs and pancreatic enzymes act upon them.
(ii) Bicarbonate Secreted by the Duodenum: Pancreatic juice contains enzymes which need alkaline medium. The bicarbonates secreted by duodenum provide alkaline medium.
(in) Pancreatic Amylase: It converts complex carbohydrates into glucose, that are absorbed in blood.
