Write the chemical name and formula of washing soda. What happens when ciystals of washing soda are exposed to air?

(i) Chemical name is sodium carbonate decahydrate (Na2CO3.10H2O).

(ii) When Crystals are exposed to air then it loses its 10 water of crystallization. This process is called Efflorescence.

Na2CO3.10H2O → Na2CO3 + 10H2O.
