Define the waves, which have frequency less and greater than the frequency of audible range. Write down the applications of ultrasonic waves.

The longitudinal waves which have frequency less than 20 Hz are called infrasonic waves.
The longitudinal waves which have frequency greater than 20 kHz are called ultrasonic waves. Applications of ultrasonic waves:

  1. For detection the flow or defect in metals.
  2. In detection of diseases.
