Reproduction in fungi occur by asexual and sexual methods. Asexually by motile spores (zoospores) or by non-motile spores (aplanospores) or conidia. In lower fungi like Phycomycetes sex organs like the unicellular antheridia (male) and unicellular oogonia (female) are produced. In higher fungi like Basidiomycetes, sex organs are absent but sexual process is present. Ascomycetes and Basidiomycetes fungi produce fruiting bodies by sexual process called ascospores and basidiospores respectively.
