Why is there a great need for consumer consciousness? Explain with examples.
THERE is a great need for consumer consciousness so that the consumers can take action against retailers or shopkeepers who are exploiting them by giving defective goods. The following two examples state the need of consumer’s consciousness:
- The ISI, Agmark and hallmark logos are quality certifications on certain classes of products while purchasing items requiring these remarks. They may be electrical or electronic goods, edible items and jewellery. These logos ensure the quality of commodity.
- Consumers must have an adequate knowledge about the products that they are buying, so that they can make an informed choice of the correct product to buy. The government spread information about legal process which consumer can use.
