Why is ocean water salty?
The ocean bodies and seas contain salty water. The water of the oceans is salty or saline as it contains large amount of dissolved salts. Ocean and seas contain sodium chloride or the table salt which we consume daily. The process of evaporation and the fact that the salts enter the ocean through rivers, which pass over rocks and soil, picking up salt along the way (along with several other reasons) have made the sea water salty.
