Why cherrapunji and mawsynram receive very heavy amount of rainfall?
Cherrapunji or Mawsynram is on the Windward side of the Khasi hills. It receives rain from the South West Monsoon Bay of Bengal Branch as it is in the Pathway of these winds. Hence because of the high hills it receives heavy relief rain.
