Why are fossils considered important in the study of evolution? Explain two ways by which age of fossils can be estimated.

Fossils provide evidences and missing links, they are helpful in forming a sequence of organism in the pathways for evolution.

Two ways by which age of fossils can be determined:

  1. Relative Method: The fossils that occur closer to the earth surface are more recent to those found in deeper layers.’

  2. Isotope Dating: By detecting the ratios of different isotopes of the same element in the fossil material.
