why alcohol is more acidic than phenol

Why phenol is more acidic than alcohol?
Phenol is more acidic because of the following reasons:

  1. Phenol can delocalize its electrons.
  2. A compound is more acidic when it produces more stable ion after releasing proton. Phenoxide ion formed in the product is more stable compare to alkoxide ion formed in alcohols. Stability of phenoxide ion is achieved due to resonance effect of benzene ring.
