Root sections of a pea plant and onion were studied by the students during practical class. Students observed that two sections are different from each other. Which type of root is found in a pea plant? How do the two root sections differ from one another?
In pea plant, tap root system is found. In this type of root system, one main root called primary root is present. This primary root bears roots of several orders.
In onion, primary root is short-lived and replaced by a large number of roots originating from the stem, i.e. fibrous root system.
