Following were the results of the Second Anglo-Maratha War:

  1. As a result of their defeat in the war, the Bhonsles of Nagpur and the Sindhias of Gwalior were forced to accept the Subsidiary Alliance Treaty and cede large swathes of lands to the Company. Also, a British Resident and Company troops were stationed in their territories.
  2. While the treaties were being signed, the Holkars of Indore attacked the British. However, a peace treaty was also negotiated with the Holkars.
  3. After the conclusion of the war, the British government recalled Wellesley and went back to its earlier policy of non-intervention.
  4. The defeat of the Marathas proved to be a major blow to the Maratha prestige.
