According to Hardy-Schulze .rule, greater the valency of flocculating ion, greater is its power to cause precipitation. This rule takes into consideration only the charge not the size of an ion. Since, both the size and the charge of an ion determine polarizing power hence, this rule can be modified as greater the polarizing power of flocculating ion, greater is its power to cause precipitation.
