Air supplies two nutrients to plants namely carbon and oxygen. Water supplies hydrogen and soil supplies thirteen nutrient elements to the plants. Among these thirteen nutrients, six are macronutrients and the other seven nutrients are micronutrients. Macronutrients are nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulphur while the micronutrients are iron, manganese, boron, zinc, copper, molybdenum and chlorine.
