In India, the proportion of women in Legislature has been very low, like in Lok Sabha representation of women is only 10 per cent and in the state legislative assemblies the representation is less than 5 per cent of the total strength.
Thus, regardingthe women’s participation in Legislature, India ranks last among the nations in the world.
