What is “Green House Effect”? State two advantages and two disadvantage of this effect.

Greenhouse effect or Global warming is the phenomenon of trapping infrared radiations of sunlight by the carbon dioxide layer in the air causing heating effect. It results in increase in temperature of atmosphere.

Advantages:

  1. It maintains the temperature of Earth.
  2. It helps in photosynthesis.

Disadvantages:

  1. It there is more CO2 in atmosphere, it will increase the temperature of the Earth.
  2. The heat produced may cause sun burns.
