What change would you observe in the overall mass of the content?

A vessel contained 28 g of carbon monoxide gas to which 16 g of oxygen gas is added and the mixture left for few hour. When checked there was only one kind of gas (carbon dioxide) in the vessel. What change would you observe in the overall mass of the content? Give reason for your answer.

Carbon monoxide (CO) reacts with oxygen (${{O}{2}}$) to form carbon dioxide (C02). There will not be any change in overall mass of the content of the vessel as mass of product formed is equal to the mass of reactants
i.e. mass of $C{{O}
{2}}$ = Mass of CO + mass of 02 = 28 + 16 = 44 g
The above observation is based on the law of conservation of mass.
