Turgor pressure has number of important functions:
(a) It keeps the cells and their organelles stretched.
(b) It provides support to non-woody tissues like parenchyma
(d) It keeps the leaves fully expanded and properly oriented to light.
(e) The opening and closing of stomata are caused by
gain and loss of turgidity
