what are the differences between broilers and layers and in their management?

Broilers are reared to obtain meat whereas an egg laying poultry is called layer.

Both layers and broilers require different types of care. The layers require enough space and adequate lighting especially during their laying period. The intensity and duration of light has favourable effect on the laying output of hens. Feed with vitamins, minerals and micronutrients also influence the hatchability of eggs. Overcrowding should be avoided.

The housing, nutritional and environmental requirements of broilers are different from layers. In case of broilers, conditions provided have to be favourable for the fast growth and low mortality. The ration of broilers is protien-rich with sufficient fat. The contents of Vitamin A and K are kept high.
