What are lenticels ? What are their functions?

(a)These are aerating pores in the bark of woody plants for the exchange of gases.
(b)The lenticles appear on the surface of the bark as raised scars containing oval or rounded depressions.
©The margins of lenticles is surrounded and raised by the cork cells.
Function: Exchange of gases.
