Give three reasons to justify the need to conserve water.
Ans. Reasons for conserving water are
(i) The over-exploitation of underground water lejds to lowering of the groundwater table. This wastes energy by having to pump water from greater depths.
(ii) Increase in population with progress of time leads to water scarcity, as the quantity of available water remains the same.
(iii) Urban lifestyles require large amount of power, which is generated by water to a significant extent. Conservation of water will enable us to continue this in the future."
