Using this table, explain why

  1. Li and Na are considered as active metals.
  2. Atomic size of Mg is less than that of Na.
  3. Fluorine is more reactive than chlorine.
  1. Both Li and Na are considered as active metal because it has one electron in valence shell. Both Li and Na tendency to lose this electron to gain stability.

  2. The atomic size of Mg is less than that of Na have because along the period (left to right] in periodic table, effective nuclear charge increases, due to this atomic size decreases.

  3. Fluorine is more reactive than chlorine because along the period in periodic table, effective nuclear charge increases that is why fluorine can hold the electron gained more easily than chlorine.
