The river Godavari is also known as ‘Dakshin Ganga’ or Ganga of South. Give reasons.
The river Godavari is the largest peninsular river. It drains almost half of the state of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The Godavari is joined by a number of tributaries such as the Purna, the Manjra and the Penganga. It is the second longest river in India after Ganga.
