(i) Give reasons why there is a continuous increase in the DDT content in different trophic levels of the chain.
(ii) Name the phenomenon responsible for the increase in DDT content.
(i) There is a continuous increase in the DDT concentration at each trophic level because DDT
cannot be metabolised or excreted out of the body. It travels high up in the food chain and is passed to next higher trophic level.
(ii) The phenomenon responsible for increase in concentration of DDT is called biomagnification.
