Nitrogen-fixing bacteria are found in which plants and why? Give one example each of free-living and symbiotic bacteria.

Nitrogen-fixing bacteria are present in the roots of leguminous plants.
The roots provide shelter to associated organisms which inturn fixes atmospheric nitrogen for them, e.g. Rhizobium (symbiotic), Azotobacter (free-living).
