Metals towards the top of the activity series can not be obtained from their compound by reducing with carbon. Why ?

i think so that because they are more reactice than carbon because of this reason metals are at above in reactivity series are not be obtained by reducing from carbon

Metals high above in reactive series are very reactive . They usually exist in the form of halides or oxides. They have much more affinity for oxygen than carbon. Since carbon is very much less reactive than the upper metals of reactivity series, it dies not displace them from their oxides or halides.
