  1. The summer season in India begins from the month of March and continues till the month of May.
  2. The highest temperature is recorded in the Northern Plains where the highest temperature may reach up to 35°C to 45°C.
  3. During the summer season, a local hot wind called the ‘loo’ blows in the northern parts of the country. Direct exposure to the wind may prove fatal.
  4. During this season, thunder storms known as ‘kalbaisakhi’ hit the states of West Bengal and Assam. These thunder storms are accompanied by heavy rainfall. It also rains in coastal Kerala and Karnataka. These showers are known as ‘Mango showers’ as they help in the early ripening of mangoes.
