Four causes of damage to forest are :

  1. Population explosion: Large areas of forests have been cleaned for agriculture, factors railway tracks, an industries etc.
  2. Pests: Various kinds of inseet pests also destroy the forests.
  3. Dams: Dams constructed across rivers also kill large tracts of forest.
  4. Fires: Forest fires destroy trees, seeds and the animal life.
