Justify the position of hydrogen in the periodic table on the basis of its electronic configuration?

Hydrogen is the first element in the periodic table. It has Is1 configuration. It shows resemblances with Alkali metals of Group-I as it has ns1 configuration. It has tendency like them to form H+ ion.
Like Halogens group 17, it has tendency to gain one electron and acquire inert gas configuration. As it shows resemblance with group I and group 17, its position is anomalous.
