Since, x = 2α + 1 and y = α -1 is a solution of the equation 2x - 3y + 5 = 0. So, it must satisfy the equation.
On putting x=2α +1 and y = α -1 in the given equation, we get 2(2α +1) - 3 (α -1) + 5 = 0
=>4α + 2-3α + 3+ 5 = 0
=> α + 10 = 0
∴ α = -10
