The agriculture system of England changed dramatically in 18th and 19th century. The rich farmers enclosed lands and pressures the Parliament to pass the Enclosure Acts, which helped in promoting grain production.
The landlords sliced up pasturelands carved up open fields, cut up forest common and turned large areas into agricultural fields. In addition to it they began growing turnip and clover, which increased nitrogen content of soil. Practice of crop rotation also helped increasing soil fertility thus increasing production of food grains.
