How to measure the six figure grid reference of an area in the map?
How do you measure the length from the northings and eastings. Is it from redline? Please advise
It is very easy to measure six figure grid reference.To write the six figure grid reference of any object given in topo sheet, first write the given two no. of eastings of the object. Then for third number, take the scale and measure the third digit from the left last eastings (the red line of the grid). Measure it into milimeters. Then divide that number by 2. This will be the third number. After writing three digits of eastings, write two digit of the last northings and then from the bottom of the last northing, measure the distance to the object with a scale in mm. Then divide that resultant distance by 2. This will give you the sixth number of the grid.
