How stomatal opening occurs in succulent plants?

(a) The stomata in succulent plants open during night and remain closed during the day time. This type of opening of stomata at night is called scotoactive type, (b) In succulent plants, during night, there is incomplete oxidation of carbohydrates and accumulation of organic acids without release of C02. © During day time, the accumulated organic acids breakdown rapidly releasing excess amount of C02 for photosynthesis as well as to keep the stomata closed.
