A democratic government is called legitimate government because:
- It is people’s own government.
- People wish to be ruled by representatives elected by them.
- Democracy’s ability to generate its own support makes it more legitimate.
- It provides properly planned institutions for its functioning such as free and fair elections, regular debates etc
