Air pollution is caused by the presence of high proportion of undesirable gases.
- Air borne particulate materials contain both solid and liquid particles.
- Smoke is emitted .by chemical and paper factories, brick kilns, refineries smelling plants and burning of fossil fuels are the major sources of air pollution.
Water Pollution is caused by organic and inorganic industrial wastes and affluents discharged into rivers.
- Paper, pulp, chemical, textile and dyeing, petroleum refineries, tanneries and electroplating industries are the major water pollutants.
- Dumping of harmful chemicals and industrial effluents in the land causes rain water to percolate. As a result, these pollutants contaminate ground water.
