How do increasing number of industries exert pressure on existing fresh water resources?
Intensive industrialisation has exerted pressure on existing freshwater resources:
- Industries are heavy users of water, they use it for washing, cooling, etc.
- Apart from being heavy users of water, they need power to run themselves.
- 22% of the total electricity hydro-electric power.
- Rapid urbanisation has also led to expansion of industries which increased the requirement of water.
