How do airborne transmitted diseases like common cold spread?

  1. How do airborne transmitted diseases like common cold spread?
  2. What do we call such microorganisms that cause such diseases? Give some examples.
  1. Airborne diseases are transmitted through the little droplets thrown out by an infected person who sneezes or coughs. These droplets contain infectious agents. Someone standing close to an infected person can breathe in these droplets and gives the microbes present in them another chance to start a new infection.
  2. Microorganisms that cause such diseases are called pathogens, e.g. bacteria, fungi, virus and protozoan, etc.
