Give the chief characteristics of Tropical Evergreen Forests
The chief characteristics of Tropical Evergreen Forests are as follows:
- They are found in heavy rainfall (200 cm) areas of the Western Ghats and the island groups of Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar, Upper Assam and Tamil Nadu coast.
- The trees are taller than 60 m. These forests appear green all the year round, as leaves do not shed at a particular time.
- Trees found in these forests are ebony, rosewood, rubber and cinchona.
