Give reasons for the following:
- Zinc oxide is considered as an amphoteric oxide.
- Non-metals in general do not displace hydrogen from dilute acids.
- Metals conduct electricity.
Give reasons for the following:
Reasons: Zinc oxide can react with both acid and bases, that’s why it is considered as amphoteric oxide.
Only more reactive compound can displace less reactive compound. Since, non-metals are less reactive than hydrogen. So, they can’t displace hydrogen from diluted acids.
Metals have free electron through which electricity can flow easily. That’s why metal conducts electricity.
