Explain the results of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War.

Following are the results of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War:

  1. Tipu Sultan laid down his life while defending his capital Seringapatnam against the British.
  2. The kingdom of Mysore was annexed in the aftermath of the war.
  3. Half of the Mysore territories were divided between the Nizam and the English East India Company.
  4. The rest of the kingdom was returned to the Raja of Mysore from whom Hyder Ali had wrested power.
