Explain how evolutionary relationships can be traced by the study of homologous organs.

Homologous organs have same basic structural design and origin as well as development but they perform different functions for example; forelimb of a frog, lijard, a bird and a human.

Since basic plan is similar, they have been modified to perform different functions in different vertebrate animals. So they help to identify an evolutionary relationships between different species.
