The scarcity of water has been increasing due to
(i) rapidly growing population.
(ii) rising demand for growing food and cash crops.
(iii) increasing urbanisation.
(iv) rising standards of living.
(v) increased use of wells and tubewells has lowered the water table.
(vi) drinking water and sanitation also causes water scarcity.
