In our country, women still lag much behind men despite some improvement since Independence.

  • Many feminists and women’s movements find that unless women control power their problems will not get adequate attention. In legislative, they should have adequate representation.
  • In India, the proportion of women in legislative has been very low.
    The percentage of elected women members in Lok Sabha as crossed 10 percent of its total strength for the first time in 2009. In 2014, it increased 11 percent only.
