Enumerate some differences between nitrification and denitrification process

  1. Enumerate some differences between nitrification and denitrification process.
  2. State the importance of nitrogen cycle for living organisms.
  1. Differences between nitrification and denitrification processes are as follows
Nitrification Denitrification
It is the process of conversion of ammonia into nitrates. It is the process of conversion of nitrates back to nitrogen or to ammonia.
The bacteria involved in this process are Nitrobacter and Nitrosomonas. The bacterium involved in this process is Pseudomonas.
  1. Nitrogen cycle is important to maintain the overall amount of nitrogen content in soil, water and air. Living organisms cannot utilise nitrogen without nitrogen cycle.
