The important features of the plant cell which play role in photosynthesis are:

  1. Plastids: Plastids are present only in plant cells. Plastids store different types of pigments.
    Types of plastids are:
  • Chloroplasts: these store green pigment called chlorophyll.
  • Chromoplasts: these store xanthophylls, carotene (other pigments).
  • Leucoplasts: store starch.
  1. Chlorophyll absorbs sunlight to convert it into chemical energy.
