  1. The membrane bound living structures of a cell which are specialized to perform specific functions inside a cell are called cell organelles .

  2. Differences between organ and organelle:

Organ Organelle
Organs are present in the entire body. Organelles are present inside the cell.
They are large in size. They are microscopic.
They perform functions for the entire body. They perform functions for the cell itself.
Examples: Stomach, Kidney. Examples: Mitochondria, Nucleus.
  1. The different types of cell organelles are nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, Golgi apparatus, ribosomes, lysosomes, centrosomes (in animal cell only) and plastids (in plant cell only).
