Biodegradable wastes: can be decomposed into simpler non-polluting substance by the action of microbes.
Example: Animal dung and paper.

Non-biodegradable waste: cannot be decomposed into non-polluting simpler substances by the action of microbes, so, these cause pollution to the environment.
Example: Plastics and metal cans.
