Discuss the initiatives of District Industries Centre (DIC) in context of providing integrated administrative framework at the district level.
The concept of District Industries Centre (DIC) came during 1977, when government of India announced the new industrial policy-on 23rd December, 1977. The main objective of DICs is to make available all necessary services at one place. The finance for setting up DICs in a state are ’ contributed equally by particular State Government and Central Government.
Functions of District Industries Centre
(i) Acts as the focal point of industrialistion of the district.
(ii) Identifies projects for setting up of SSI units.
(iii) Issues permanent registration certificate to SSI units.
(iv) Provides marketing support to SSI units.
(v) Acts as a link between the entrepreneurs and the lead bank of district.
(vi) Helps businessman in obtaining licence from electricity board, water supply board, etc.
