Taxon :
1. Taxon represents to a group of organisms.
2. It is only of one type.

Category :

1. Category refers to rank or status of taxon.
2. Category is of two types :
   (a) Major ranks :Kingdom, Divison and Class etc.
   (b) Minor ranks : Genus and species etc.
