  • MAHATMA Gandhi had to find a way to relate abstract idea of freedom to more concrete
    issues of everyday life. He found in salt a powerful symbol that could unite the nation.
  • Gandhiji started his tamous Salt March. It was the beginning of Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930.
  • The Salt March was started with his 78 trusted volunteers from his ashram-Sabarmati to Dandi.
  • On 6th April, he reached Dandi, ceremonially violated the law, manufacturing salt by boiling sea water.
