Define the term organised sector. Explain any three reasons why people like to work in the organised sector?
Unorganised Sector: The unrecognised sector is characterised by small and scattered units which are largely outside the control of the government.
- There are rules and regulations but they are not followed.
- Jobs here are low paid and often not regular. There is no provision for overtime, paid leave, holidays, leave due to sickness, etc.
- This sector includes large number of people who are employed on their own doing small jobs such as selling on streets vendors, repair work. Similarly, farmers work on their own and hire labour as and when they require.
In the rural sector, the farmers need to be supported through adequate facility for timely delivery of seeds, agricultural inputs credit storage facility and marketing outlets. People like organised sector because this sector provides them job security, regular income and safety from unemployment.
